Hoot Tools - Knife No. 4

$34.95

Measures: 5.75" x 1.125"

The potter's knife is an essential tool, one I always find myself reaching for. From slicing open clay boxes to faceting plate rims and carving decorative lines - this knife can do it all.

With a carbon steel blade and walnut wooden handle, this knife was designed to endure the abuse of a pottery studio.

This No. 4 blade has a snub nose, sharpened tip. Because the blade angle is so narrow, a pointed tip becomes too needle like and is more easily damaged than a tiny, flattened tip.

The blades are heat treated for a balance of hardness and toughness, and sharpened to a razors edge. They are thin and flexible, springing back into shape resisting deformation.

As with any carbon steel blade, it is recommended to keep it dry in storage. A quick coat of oil after use will prevent oxidation and extend its lifespan. The blades are easily sharpened on a whetstone / other knife sharpening device, making it a reliable tool for years to come.
